Pictures of Portugal #7

Castle in Ourem - about 30 minutes from our home.  That's Rick standing in one of the windows.  Notice you can't see the ground in the picture?  Tanner was banned from going up there.

More picts of the castle - pretty cool.  It's one of those castles you can just walk around yourself.  You don't have to pay money or anything.  Notice all the walls and how tall they are?  Can you see why I'd have heart palpitations watching my kids walking on those?

Can you hear my heart pounding?  No deaths that day, though!

Tanner scaled one of the walls and crawled through one of the cannon holes.

Our first set of missionaries came with us to the Ourem Castle.  The is Elder Tanner with Tanner.

Elder Tanner & Elder Sagebin with my cute little mini missionary.  They were transferred the next day.

  1. Denise,

We just walked down you blog and really enjoyed it. Sounds like you are having a real adventure but enjoying it except for a few things like what you have to do with eggs before they are crackable and eatable. We know all about that having to clean them in bleach before putting them away after purchasing them.

Naomi and I have pictures of ourselves at the castle you climbed around on. It brought back some warm memories of the few days we spent wandering around Portugal quite a few years ago trying to see what we could. It was in the summer and Naomi quickly guided us away from the beaches. You probably, by now, know why.

Warm regards from a cold, cold place. Lots and lots of snow!

  2. Loved looking at your blog. Naomi and I were at the castle many years ago. Loved traveling in and out of those wonderful little villages. Only got lost once. Miss you alot but glad you are having such a nice experience.
