I have a funny child. Today, I drove Tanner to school as usual. And, as usual, he says most of the way there “So, can I just skip school today?” And I, of course tell him no and that everything will be ok. And we have that exchange, but with different “wordage” for the next 10 minutes. We pull up in front of the school and I park to walk him to the gate. This is the standard procedure for his school. The parent is supposed to walk the child to the gate where a lady from the school greets you and accepts your child onto campus (same procedure at the end of the day). But, this time as I’m walking him to the gate I look down (at the same time the lady looks down) and I realize – Tanner’s wearing his slippers. So funny!!! We jump back in the car and drive the 10 minutes of windy country roads back, switch for tennis shoes & a quick hair brushing and back to school. It made Tanner’s day, though. All he could say was “Yes!! I missed ½ an hour of school!!”
